SAMS offers the CITB Health & Safety Awareness course via remote learning and in classroom. The remote and classroom training takes place over 1 day via Zoom or alternatively you can come into our offices (depending on what is scheduled at the time). The content is the same as the classroom based course, and you’ll receive the same qualification.

About the Health & Safety Awareness course

The Health & Safety Awareness course focuses on health and safety within the construction and civil engineering industry.

Who is the Health & Safety Awareness course for?

This course highlights potential hazards when working on site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

This Health and Safety awareness is recognised as an equivalent to the IOSH Working Safely. This means that delegates who successfully complete the above course (and can provide evidence of this) can then apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) green labourer card once they’ve passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test.

Please Note: Once candidates have completed the CSCS test and CITB course here at SAMS you will be able to apply for your CSCS card 48 hours after your test papers have been submitted.

What does the course consist of?

At the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Understand the need to prevent accidents
• Have an understanding of health and safety law
• Identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
• Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
• Appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice if unsure
• Be able to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident

Duration

The CITB Health & Safety Awareness remote course will be completed in one day, with the exam at the end of the day. You will have professional guidance from highly qualified and experienced instructors.

Suggested progression: requalification every 3 years.
