Support – for UKATA Asbestos Awareness Online Course
Please take a look at the content on this page – most support queries can be answered from here. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, please email us at info@samsltd.co.uk. We are able to deal with most queries straight away.
ANSWERS to all common questions can be found below, or choose a video to help you set up your account(s).
How can I book a course?
Step One: Select how many courses you would like, and pay for them using the basket function in the top right of your screen. You will then be sent your licence codes via an e-mail – also check your junk/trash/spam folder.
Step Two: Click on the link within the e-mail which will take you to a log in screen – you will need to register here. If you have purchased multiple licences, each learner will need to create their own account (and keep hold of those registration details, as this will be what you use to log in with to retrieve your certificates).
You should then enter the course management area where you can add your licence key in the box provided, and click add to assign the course to your account.
How soon can I take the course?
You can take the course as soon as you’ve registered and paid. If you’re buying more than one licence, we will automatically email the log-in details for all your users to you as soon as you have registered and paid – so all your team can begin on the course straightaway. You will then have to assign each licence key to your account.
I have not received my Licence Key details – what should I do?
Due the licence key information being a scramble of letters, this e-mail can sometimes be sent to your junk/trash/spam/clutter folder which is dependent on your e-mail settings. If you have not received your licence key details within 5 minutes of placing your order, please check those folders.
Can I do the online training on a phone or handheld device or tablet?
No, tablets, mobile phones and other portable devices should not be used for this course. It is advised that candidates use a desktop or laptop computer with a printer available, in order to print off the certificate at the end of the course. It is important that the device is fully charged, and that a good Wi-Fi connection is available.
Licence key not found?
Ensure that you copy and paste only the digits of the licence key and that there are no extra spaces at the end.
Licence key could not be updated?
This is because your licence key is already in your account. Scroll down and click “view” next to the licence key.
Course says “confirm your identity” – and there is no NEXT button!
You are using an old version of your internet browser. The course will work on all browsers except Safari, so long as it is a current version of that browser.
Course says “confirm your identity” – but it’s showing someone else’s name!
You have added the key to someone else’s account instead of creating an account for yourself. This key cannot now be moved. You will have to contact SAMS Ltd to assist you. Use another licence key in the meantime.
What if I don’t have my own email address?
You can make up an email address as it is purely to access the system, nothing is actually emailed to it. For example, Charliewatts@asbestos.com. Individuals MUST use a separate account with their own name and email address; accounts cannot be shared.
Do I have to sit the course all in one go?
It is the recommendation of SAMS Ltd that this course be completed within a suitable environment which supports the learning experience. In meeting these recommendations, candidates are advised to complete the course in an area where it is unlikely they will be disturbed to ensure full concentration throughout the course.
If you need to leave the course for any length of time you should choose “SAVE PROGRESS” and ensure you exit only using the “EXIT” button. If you leave the course for longer than 45 minutes unattended it will time out and you will lose your progress. One re-entering the course it will start again at the page where you last saved progress.
What software do I need to run the course?
You just need a supported internet browser (the most current version), and Adobe Flash Player Version 8.0 or above. You can test your PC to check if Flash is correctly installed. If you do not have Adobe Flash Player installed, download the latest version for free from the Adobe website. JavaScript must also be enabled.
Please also ensure the following:
- Most up-to-date browser is used
- Only have the course open in one browser at once
- Ensure pop-ups are enabled, if they are not, ensure that our address is added to the exceptions list (Options, Content): https://courses.samsltd.co.uk
How long do the e-Learning courses take?
The UKATA Asbestos Awareness course will take approximately 2 hours.
Ofqual (QA) courses are designed to give six hours of learning (this is the equivalent to classroom training, and allows learners to go on to take the Ofqual accredited exam to gain certification).
I have more than one organisation – how can I manage them all on your system?
If you have more than one organisation and would like to manage both of them from the learning management homepage, then you can add as many organisations as you require.
When purchasing the licenses, you can assign them to the different organisations regardless of what organisation originally purchased them. However, they will need to be assigned to the organisation in the quantity in which they were purchased, using the QuickAdd code, which will add all of the licences purchased to that account.
Is there audio?
Yes – you will need speakers or headphones. All of our courses can be completed without audio, although this is not advisable as it could impact on the learning effectiveness.
How soon can I get my certificate?
Your certificate is automatically generated once you have completed the final assessment, saved progress and exited the course correctly. It’s then available for immediate download, it will NOT be emailed to you. You can also access your certificate in the My Courses section of your account to download and keep.
Is there a time limit to the License Keys?
No, unused Licence Keys will not expire.
What if I do not have an internet connection, can I still take the course?
You will need to have access to the internet to be able to launch the courses.
